WILL AND GRACE STAR SEAN HAYES CONFIRMS HIS GAY Will & Grace actor Sean Hayes has confirmed he is gay – adding that he was “never in” the closet. The star who played gay character Jack McFarland in the sitcom has been criticised in the past for not declaring his sexual orientation. In an interview with Advocate magazine he said: “I never have had a problem saying who I am. I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never.” The magazine had criticised him for giving media interviews in which he skirted around the topic of his sexuality, despite it being an open secret in Hollywood. Velvet Bar won Best Restaurant or Cafe with Taurus Bar coming 4th. Village Spartans won Best Gay Sports Group. Vanila won Best Women’s Venue with Coyotes coming 4th. Manchester Pride and Pride Games won Best Festival or Pride Event and Gay Sports Event of the Year. Manchester City council won Best Council or Local Authority, Manchester police were voted Best Police Force and the Manchester Fire service won Best Fire and Rescue Service. Other categories where Manchester featured in the final 5 were Best Bar or pub where Taurus came 2nd and Legends 3rd, Best University LGBT Society where Manchester came 2nd and 4th and Manchester was voted 2nd in Top British Destination. The full list of winners can be found on the following page http://news.pinkpaper.com/NewsStory.aspx?id=2501 TRIBUTES PAID FOR TV PRESENTER KRISTIAN DIGBY Tributes have been paid to BBC television presenter Kristian Digby who was found dead at his flat in east London on Monday morning. The 32-year-old, who was also a film director, had worked on a number of property shows including BBC One's To Buy or Not To Buy. His sudden death has shocked friends, colleagues and fans who said he was "a much-loved presenter". The results of a post-mortem examination have been "inconclusive". A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said they are waiting for further tests. "The death is still being treated as unexplained. "We are satisfied there was no third-party involvement." He went to the independent Bramdean School in Exeter where he battled with dyslexia. Dominic Littlewood, who was Mr Digby's co-presenter on To Buy or Not to Buy, said: "There's not a bad word I can say about Kristian. "He was a lovely, fun, nice, jolly, decent person." Mr Digby's agent and friend Jo Wander said: "I am devastated by the loss. "He was a lovely guy and a very talented presenter and director. "I will miss him hugely and my thoughts at this time are with his family and his many friends. He will be sorely missed." "He did so much for the gay community," said Julian Bennett, fellow broadcaster and friend of Mr Digby. "He appealed to the masses. He was well educated. He made gay acceptable to the middle class and that was a tough thing to do. "Being gay has never been a problem for him. He was a gentleman." A spokesman for the BBC said: "Kristian was a much-loved and talented presenter for BBC Daytime. "He brought a real sense of energy and warmth to all the shows he presented for us and will be sorely missed. "Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time." TV PRESENTER KRISTIAN DIGBY FOUND DEAD IN LONDON FLAT BBC television presenter Kristian Digby has been found dead at his flat in east London, police have said. The 32-year-old presenter was best known for the BBC One property programme To Buy or Not To buy. Mr Digby, who co-presented the show, was pronounced dead at the scene when ambulance services arrived at his flat in Richford Road, Newham, earlier. Police sources described the circumstances surrounding his death on Monday morning as "unexplained". His body was found at about 0745 GMT on Monday. His next of kin have been informed. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to reports of a body of a man in his 30s found at an address in Richford Road, E15. EAZYSLEEP HOTEL ON CANAL STREET SOLD TO NEW OWNER Eazysleep hotel on Canal Street has been sold to a new owner. Orignal owner Drew confirmed to gtentelevision today that he had sold the hotel as a going concern. The handover to the new owner took place this weekend. The new owner also runs the village off license and Pure Tanning. It is believed the new owner has some exciting plans for the hotel. Voting is easy just go this address http://www.pinkpaper.com/pp_awards2010.html COMEDIAN JASON WOOD DIES AGED 38 Musical comedian Jason Wood - one of the contestants on the first series of Strictly Come Dancing - has died aged 38 his agent has confirmed. Chambers Management said Wood died in his sleep on Saturday and there were no suspicious circumstances. The comedian was best known for his musical impersonations ranging from Cher to Morrissey. He became better known after appearing on the BBC One show in 2004. He was the first celebrity to be voted out. Wood was also a regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival and frequently headlined at comedy clubs. His agent added there were no further details as autopsy results were pending.
