GTEN: Why do you think Paris to Berlin was such a huge hit in the UK?
I think it was a combination of the right song, the right promotors and most of all timing. The UK was ready for a silly pop-smash and when Radio 1 picked it up people sort of took it as an "ok, you are allowed to like this" and the naff-ness was pushed in the background.
GTEN: Ten miles was a great song what was the story behind it?
Really it is written for a girl, I have known for ages. She has been in a bad, bad relationship for such a long time and really it is my singing her song - but in my words. It is my wondering how a smart girl like her is willing to put herself through his crap time and time again, but I sing it in 1st person to give it presence. Actually there is a song, I wrote for her about the same topic that may make the next album. It is sort for the part one and Ten Miles is part two. We don't know yet though. He and she has actually finally broken up after five years and she has used my two songs that tell her story to strengthen her when she has been the most hartbroken. I think that's really beautifull.
GTEN: How did the two of you meet?
We met through friends. I came home from a really boring summer vacation and called up a friend of mind. He said he couldn't hang out as he was going to some blokes' house and only boys were coming. I managed to convince him that I'm as much one of the boys as anyone can be. He asked them if he could bring a girl, they agreed and there Paw and all his friends met me and we all fell in love and have been friends ever since. He was 14 and I was 15.
GTEN: You are working on you Fourth Album now can you tell us about it?
Well... We haven't chosen all the tracks yet, but I CAN tell you that we are going completely opposite what everyone else seems to be doing. Everybody seems to go minimal. We go maximal. The bigger the better. The more, the merrier and so on. We have decided to go our own way and this is definetely the album that we've had the most fun making EVER.
GTEN: Lina you are a judge on X factor in denmark how is that going?
THAT'S TOUGH!!! We have 2/5 of the population watching. It is the biggest X FActor ever. In any country. It is basically tearing me apart. Anything I say or do is a story and for a while it was getting to me. I have been famous here in Denmark for many years and sure, I made headlines a couple of times, but several weeks in a row. It is affecting my family and it has meant that nomatter where I go, it's all anyone wants to talk about. They want me to do it again. I doubt that I'm going to. I don't regret it, it has been an honour and a great experience to pass on my experience to rookies in the business and they have all become beloved friends - also the contestants that weren't mine to begin with. When they leave the show, they all come to me and that makes me really proud and really happy.
GTEN: So are you planning a tour soon?
First we have to finish the album. We have set a deadline for all music to be finished May 1st. Then we have to do photoshoots and videos and start promoting and in July we have our first shows. Depending on when we release something in the UK, we hope to be on tour as soon after as possible. Trouble is to get gigs for us. We don't do singback p.a.-type things and the festivals and venues don't want us. Yet. But well win them over sooner or later... :-)
GTEN: You have a large gay audience in the UK how do you feel about that?
WONDERFUL!!! We both have loads of friends who are gay, we work with more gay than straight people, I think and so it's all the same to us. People are people. Some just dress a bit better than the others... ;-)
GTEN: Are you both single?
No, we have both been "off the market" for a long time. I have been with my boyfriend Kasper for almost ten years and Paw has been with his girlfriend, Ditte I think for four or five years.
GTEN: How do you like to relax?
We are both big movie fans and we like to cook or go out dining at good places. Not the VIP crap, but the places that serve the best meals. To be honest there is not a lot of time for relaxing so we don't pick up hobbies or stuff like that.
GTEN: Any plans to come to Manchester soon?
As soon as possible! And no, no plans right now. :-)
